What do you like most about teaching Spanish?

I love to think that I'm helping them to connect with my culture. They already have an interest in it, and I feel happy to help them develop that. I like to think that by teaching them I make new friendshinps between cultures possible. I also learn a whole lot by teaching: about my own language, about the people I teach and about the place in which I'm teaching. I thrive by working with people and nurture myself from them. And I must say, I love what I do and I have a lot of fun!

What do you think you offer your students:

I try to be as encouraging as possible. Sometimes understanding grammar and learning vocabulary are not enough to communicate, but actually gathering the courage to speak the language is, from my point of view, essential.

When we're learning as adults we tend to be shy because we're scared to make mistakes. What we don't understand is that by making mistakes we learn and that you don't need to be 100% accurate to convey the meaning of what we want to say. I try to teach my students to give it a try, ever in they're not sure they're saying the right thing.

I also teach them to think about the language and to have fun with it. We associate learning with hard work and difficulty, but it doesn't need to be: it can be fun and rewarding, and to make it so is my main goal as a teacher.

How would you describe yourself?
I am commited, enthusiastic, easy going and generally a happy person. As a teacher I am approachable, and I'm all the time studying and finding new material and ways of teaching. I try to make my explanations as simple as possible, and provide my students with resorces to improve their knowledge.
