Although you've probably met lots of people who have taught English in Asia, you're unlikely to have met many who have done so in Latin America or Spain. And it's a totally different experience! About as different as the countries themselves are. Whereas Asian business culture tends to be very, well, business-like, Latin Americans have a tendency to have fun - even at work! The Spanish Cat in partnership with LTI - Language Training Institute (RTO code: 30173 - one of Australia's foremost TESOL training providers) is now offering you a unique opportunity. Teaching English in Spain or Latin America is one of the most rewarding and life changing experiences you will ever have. Imagine going to work each day and making great friends who will be more than happy to show you around, learning about and being part of their culture and customs, and, of course, speaking Spanish every day! And your job? Well, if you like talking to people, that’s a great start…. Then mix in a few grammar exercises and pronunciation tips of course! Even for those without any teaching experience, The Spanish Cat is now providing short courses aimed at training you to teach English as a second language. This course, the Certificate IV in TESOL (Course Code: 30537QLD Teaching English to speakers of other Languages), is run by us in partnership with LTI, and gives students a nationally recognized qualification that opens the doors of opportunity to the world.
Why is the type of accreditation important? It is very important to make sure that any TESOL or TEFL course you undertake is accredited by the Australian government (part of the Nationally Recognised Training program). There are many other types of accreditation out there which may not allow you to work here in Australia*, and which may not be accepted by governments in other countries when applying for a work visa (many countries require you to have a valid teaching qualification). *See Course Outcomes for details on the course description page. What happens when I finish the course?
For those students who complete this course, we will give you access to a host of information about job opportunities overseas, especially in Latin America and Spain. For students who do particularly well, we may even be able to line a job up for you before you leave! We will also provide you with information about the country you wish to travel to, such as visa requirements, accommodation options and other essential information. There are literally thousands of available jobs teaching English overseas, so anyone who completes this course and wants to will have no trouble finding a placement somewhere.
